Mobile, AL – The Mobile Sports Authority (MSA) and the Mobile Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau (MBCVB) jointly announced today that Mobile County has been awarded the 2015 Fishers of Men Southeast Region District 1 Championship which will be held in the fall of 2015. The championship will be held on the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta from November 16-20, 2015 and will be staged out of Mobile County River Delta Marina. The bass tournament will feature 150-200 anglers from Alabama, Georgia, and Florida competing over a two-day period for the chance to advance to the 2016 Fishers of Men National Championship. The organization’s only other visit to Mobile County was for their 2012 Southeast Regional Championship which was also held at the Mobile County River Delta Marina in November 2012.“We at the Fishers of Men are very excited about bringing another championship bass tournament to the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta area,” said Bobby Eads, Senior Vice President of the Fishers of Men Tournament Trail. “The first championship we held there in 2012 was a great success, thanks to Danny Corte and his staff from the Mobile Sports Authority and to Linda Wehrle from the Mobile Bay CVB.”
Danny Corte, Executive Director of the Mobile Sports Authority commented, “we look forward to having the Fishers of Men back in the Mobile area for the first time in several years. We believe the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta area is one of the most beautiful fisheries in the country and we look to show it off again for the Fishers of Men. We want to thank Bobby Eads and his organization for the confidence they’ve shown in us as we look forward to hosting another prestigious bass-fishing tournament in Mobile County.”
The nationally-known Fishers of Men bass-fishing organization, based out of Springville, Indiana beginning in 1998 as a small four division tournament trail with a total of 21 events being held in their first season, has now grown into one of the largest fishing tournament organizations in the country with over 300 annual tournament events. The group holds tournaments in 21 different states across the eastern and central parts of the U.S.
For this tournament, most of the competitors will begin arriving in the Mobile area on the Monday or Tuesday before the tournament, that being November 16 or 17, to get three practice days in before competition days on Friday, November 19, and Saturday, November 20, 2015. As always, the public is invited to come out to Mobile County River Delta Marina and watch the anglers weigh in their catch. Admission to all parts of this family-friendly event will be free.
