Mobile Hits A Homerun As Host of the 2019 Babe Ruth Baseball World Series

Hamilton, NJ - In less than a year, Mobile, Alabama will roll out the red carpet to welcome the country's top 16-18-year-old talent for the 2019 Babe Ruth Baseball World Series. The playing dates of the World Series are August 2-9, with the teams slated to arrive in town on July 31.
The Babe Ruth League World Series, one of the largest youth sporting events in the country, will draw huge crowds from across the U.S. and meet a variety of economic goals and community involvement. As the host community, Mobile will select its own 16-18-year-old squad to compete in the event that will also include eight regional champions from across the country, as well as the Alabama Babe Ruth 16-18 State Champion. The competition will begin with pool play before advancing to a single elimination bracket that will determine the World Series champion.
Negotiations are being finalized to play all games on Jacobs Field at the University of Mobile. Jacobs Field is named for Alabama Baseball Coaches Hall of Famer Mike Jacobs, who founded and still leads the University of Mobile Rams Baseball Program. This immaculate baseball complex has 588 permanent seats, electronic scoreboard, press box, coach's office, concession stand and bathrooms, home & visitors bull pens, and the J.C. Romero Hitting Facility. In the fieldhouse, you will find home team locker rooms and a lounging area.

"The Rawdogs have had the pleasure to take part in several Babe Ruth World Series and have been fortunate enough to bring home nine World Series titles. In addition to a great competitive athletic experience, we were left with many lifetime memories to share. To be able to return the favor and share some Southern hospitality and create memorable moments for the teams participating in the 2019 Babe Ruth 16-18 World Series is a dream come true for Mobile."

With this being the first youth World Series held in Mobile since 1982, we very much look forward to showing our visiting teams and their fans some famous Southern hospitality during their stay in our beautiful and historic area. We hope to create some special memories for the teams, their friends, and their families," said Danny Corte, Executive Director of the Mobile Sports Authority.

Area hotels, restaurants, grocery stores, shopping outlets, gas stations, entertainment venues and other local business will experience direct spending from attendees.new surroundings, make new friends, experience a social and cultural exchange, and play their favorite game," said Robert Faherty, Vice President for Babe Ruth League, Inc. "Mobile is the type of community that is right for our players. You have to think about it; even 17 and 18-year-old kids can get a little nervous about going to a new town. However, when our young athletes get to Mobile, they will see a town like their own, where the people care about kids and put community first. That's why we are coming here with our Babe Ruth Baseball 16-18 World Series."
Babe Ruth League, Inc. is a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to developing better citizens by providing properly supervised baseball and softball competition for 4 through 18-year-old players. It is the basic intent of Babe Ruth League that every player who has a desire to play the sport is given the opportunity to participate and have fun.
