Mobile Sports Authority Adds Alvin Hope, John Williams to Board of Trustees

MOBILE, Ala. – The Mobile Sports Authority
and its Board of Trustees are pleased to announce the addition of two new
members to the sports commission’s board in Alvin Hope II and John Williams.
Alvin Hope joins the MSA after being appointed by Mayor Sandy Stimpson earlier this week. Currently, Hope is an attorney with the Mobile office of Maynard Cooper & Gale, P.C. where he specializes in public finance and governmental regulatory affairs. He earned his undergraduate degree and a law degree from the University of Alabama and was a three-year letter winner in football for the Crimson Tide. Hope also received a Master’s in Business Administration from Emory University’s Goizueta School of Business.
Hope is already very involved in the community, serving on the boards of Prichard Preparatory School, the Gulf Coast Angel Network, Mobile Area Education Foundation, and UMS-Wright Preparatory School. He is also a member of the Mobile Downtown Rotary Club, the Senior Bowl Committee, and the Red Elephant Club.
John Williams also joins the MSA after being appointed by the Mobile City Council earlier this week. Williams is a Desert Storm veteran and retired as an Army Major following 20 years of service (1984-2004). He’s presently the business manager for Mobile Premier Pediatric Dentistry. Williams received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Northwestern State University and a Master’s in Administration from Central Michigan University. Williams is also a graduate of the Air Force – Air Command and Staff College. He has also been very involved in coaching youth sports in the area mainly in the sports of soccer, basketball, and baseball over the past 12 years.
Councilman Williams currently represents District 4 on the Mobile City Council. He is a member of a handful of council committees and serves as the Rules Committee Chairperson.
“We’re looking forward to having both Alvin and John as part of the Mobile Sports Authority board as we continue our mission of bringing visitors to town through sporting events,” said MSA Board Chairman George Bock. “With the strong sports backgrounds that both Alvin and John possess, their addition will greatly complement that mission.”
