MSA FY2014 Economic Impact Numbers
Oct 29th, 2014
The Mobile Sports Authority (MSA) recently completed its 5th complete fiscal year of operations on 9/30/14. So as an update, I wanted to give you a report about the very successful year we’ve just completed (please see the attached .pdf file for the details). In summary, the MSA attracted, hosted, managed/co-managed, or supported a total of 37 completed sporting events in our area from October 1, 2013 – September 30, 2014. Out of that 37 total, 21 were non-tennis events and 16 were tennis tournaments in which the MSA and Mobile County partnered with the Mobile Area Tennis Association.
The TOTAL estimated economic impact to the Mobile area through these 37 sporting events was $62,300,922 for this past fiscal year. Through our strong partnerships with Mobile County, the City of Mobile, the Mobile Area Lodging Association, and with other municipalities in the county, we look to attract even more quality sporting events to our area in the future.
As an FYI, some of the types of sporting events we’re working on which match up with our existing sports facilities involve the sports of archery, auto racing, youth baseball, high school boys & girls basketball, bass-fishing, bowling, cheerleading, cycling, college football, college baseball, collegiate golf, youth and high school gymnastics, kickball, youth lacrosse, powerlifting, both men’s and women’s rugby, 5K, 15K, half-marathon, full marathon, cross-country and even obstacle course races, softball, tennis, high school volleyball, pre-Olympic weightlifting, swimming, and even mixed martial arts fighting. As always, we thank you again for your support of the Mobile Sports Authority and of our main mission of bringing quality visiting sporting events to our beautiful area.
