MOBILE - “With the decision that Mobile would be included for the first time in the future rotation for the Alabama High School Athletic Association Super 7 Football Championships, to say that we’re fired ?up about that decision would be an understatement. First, I want to thank Coach Heath Harmon and the AHSAA Central Board for the confidence they’ve shown in us at the Mobile Sports Authority and with our events partners to host their most prestigious annual event. We look forward to working with Coach Harmon and his entire staff to make the Super 7 Championships in Mobile a very special experience for the players, coaches, officials, VIP’s, families, and fans. We’ve really enjoyed being hosts over the years for the AHSAA golf, tennis, and bowling state championships, and now adding the Super 7 is a momentous development for the south Alabama area.

As with any large sporting event which the MSA hosts, such as a Super 7, it takes a complete team to successfully organize and operate an event of this size and stature. So, several years ago, starting with our MSA Board, we started discussions with those various entities who would be very important for us to be able to host such an important event. And everyone we talked to was very supportive of our vision. And that supportive attitude was and is the main reason we were successful with our bid.

With that stated, I want to thank our Team Mobile partners for their help in getting us to this day as they’ll also be an essential part for us to successfully host the Super 7. I want to thank Dr. Joel Erdmann and his staff at the University of South Alabama/Hancock Whitney Stadium for helping us work through the many details to be the host site. I also want to thank Mayor Sandy Stimpson, the Mobile City Council, and Commissioners Merceria Ludgood, Connie Hudson and Randall Dueitt of the Mobile County Commission for their unwavering support as we pursued this event. And our other very important Super 7 event partners have been and will continue to be Visit Mobile, our local hoteliers through the Mobile County Marketing Fund, and the Mobile County Public School System, as well as countless others who have helped us get to this point. Without all those different groups and individuals coming together to support our bid, we would never have been awarded this event. So, thank you and congratulations to Team Mobile!

Now the real work begins! This event will take our entire community to help ensure the participants and the fans have a memorable experience as it is potentially the largest sporting event ever to be held in southwest Alabama. We in Mobile are looking forward to making it special for everyone involved. So, as the MSA motto states, get ready Mobile to, Go All Out! It’s what We Do!”
